Band tension climbs the further you stretch it, so the hardest point of a donkey kick lands at full extension with the Glutes fully shortened. The bodyweight version is easiest exactly there, which is the wrong way round.
Set Up
Anchor: Door anchor at the bottom of the door.
Bands: Clip both ends of the band into one ankle strap.
Body position: Fasten the ankle strap around one foot with the ring on top, then get onto your hands and knees four to five feet from the door, facing it. Line your working leg up directly in front of the anchor with the band running to the outside of that leg.
Movement
Drive your working leg back and slightly up until it is straight and parallel to the floor.
Points To Remember
- Push back from your heel.
- Squeeze your Glutes at the top of the rep.
