The hardest leg exercise in the band library, and not only because of the load. It asks for balance and concentration at the same time as strength. Nothing else builds the Quads and Glutes together quite as well.

Lunge With Bands start and finish positions

Set Up

Anchor: None needed.

Bands: Clip a handle to each end of the band.

Body position: Stagger your feet with one in front and stand on the band with your front foot. Grip a handle in each hand and bring your hands up to shoulder height. Back straight, head straight, elbows back, chest up. Lower your hips straight down until your front thigh is almost parallel to the floor.

Movement

Straighten your front leg and drive your hips back up.

Points To Remember

  1. Push through your heel.
  2. Keep your front knee tracking over your toes as you lower and rise.
