A normal crunch is capped at your own bodyweight against gravity, which means it stops being hard fairly quickly. A band pulls from any angle at any height, so you can keep adding resistance long after bodyweight crunches have stopped doing anything.

Resisted Abs Crunch With Bands start and finish positions

Set Up

Anchor: Door anchor at the bottom of the door.

Bands: Clip each end of the band to an ankle strap.

Body position: Grip an ankle strap or handle in each hand and lie on the floor facing away from the door, knees bent and feet flat. Lie far enough away that the bands are starting to stretch. Arms straight and tight to your body, palms down.

Movement

Crunch up, moving your hands three to four inches toward your heels.

Points To Remember

  1. Keep your arms down.
  2. Think about drawing your rib cage toward your pelvis rather than lifting your head.
