A push up is a bench press turned over. You are pressing your body away from the floor instead of a bar away from your chest. The band across your back adds the load that bodyweight alone stops providing once you get strong.

Push Up With Bands start and finish positions

Set Up

Anchor: None needed.

Bands: No adjustment needed. Run the band around your back, under your arms.

Body position: Lie face down and place your palms over the band on each side so there is no slack. Hands about twenty inches apart, fingers pointing forward. Back straight, legs straight, head straight.

Movement

Press your whole body up until your arms are almost straight. Lower under control and repeat.

Points To Remember

  1. Do not let your hips lift or sag. Hold a straight line from head to heels.
  2. On the way down, stop when your upper arms are parallel to the floor.
