An underhand grip is the chin up pattern, and this is as close as bands get to one. Train it for a while and the strength carries over directly. Pulling yourself up a rope, over a wall or onto a bar all get noticeably easier.
Set Up
Anchor: Door anchor at the top of the door.
Bands: Clip a handle to each end of the band.
Body position: Grip a handle in each hand and kneel on one knee three to four feet from the door, facing it. Back straight, head straight. Arms pointing at the anchor, palms facing up, hands about six inches apart.
Movement
Pull the handles down until your hands are below your chin. Return under control and repeat.
Points To Remember
- Grip the handles loosely, just tight enough not to drop them.
- Drive your shoulder blades down as you pull.
