A side bend is only as good as the angle of its resistance. Anchored at the floor, the band pulls straight along the line the Obliques work on, and the tension builds as you bend away instead of falling off at the bottom.

Oblique Side Bend With Bands start and finish positions

Set Up

Anchor: Door anchor at the bottom of the door.

Bands: Clip both ends of the band into one handle and hold it in one hand.

Body position: Stand about three feet from the door with your side facing it. Back straight, head straight, wide stance. Your working arm hangs straight, pointing at the anchor.

Movement

Bend sideways at the waist, away from the door.

Points To Remember

  1. Keep your legs locked in place as you bend. That is what isolates the Obliques.
