A band curl loads differently from a dumbbell curl. Tension climbs as the band stretches, so the hardest part of the rep lands at the top, where your Biceps are shortest and strongest. A dumbbell does the opposite, and that is why the squeeze at the top of a band curl feels so much sharper.

Biceps Curls With Bands start and finish positions

Set Up

Anchor: None needed.

Bands: Clip a handle to each end of the band.

Body position: Stand on the band with your feet hips width apart and take a handle in each hand. Back straight, head straight, chest up, stomach tight. Start with your arms straight down, palms facing forward, elbows tight to your sides.

Movement

Curl the handles up until your hands reach chest height. Lower under control and repeat.

Points To Remember

  1. Keep your elbows pinned at your sides. They should not drift forward or back during the rep.
